Written appraisals can be prepared for all types of art: original paintings, drawings, limited edition prints, and sculptures. Gloria Gales offers twenty-five years of experience identifying, valuing, and brokering fine art from around the world.
Knowing the current fair market value of your art and receiving a written statement from an independent, impartial appraiser is necessary in order to insure your art and sell your art. Whether you wish to insure or sell a single piece of art, or an entire art collection, Gloria Gales can assist with professional research and knowledge.
Your appraisal will be researched, written and prepared in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. As no two works of art are exactly the same, even reproductions may have variances of size, and of course condition, each appraisal is completed solely for the use of that one particular work of art.
Unlike many industries in the United States, such as real estate or automobile appraising, the art industry is not regulated by laws or statutes. However, the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice offers good standards to follow where possible with regard to art appraisals.
The most important criteria is the appraiser’s experience and thoroughness in writing the report. Is your appraiser doing all of the research and report writing, or are less experienced personnel involved?
Gloria Gales inspects the art herself, measures the art, photographs the art, and take notes which are kept for posterity.
The appraisal report will be as complete as possible, it will be concise and not misleading. It will be written professionally and not in such a way that would make it difficult to understand.
Gloria is always available to discuss the appraisals with her clients, either on the telephone or via email.
